Hi all,
I recall that Steve Feuerstein's session on PL/SQL was very popular. He is organizing a new project and I have just received his email about beta available. It's bellow and you can all participate stating SOM as your group. :)
I've been working with PL/SQL since Oracle first released it and I have
always been interested in building a stronger sense of community and
engagement among PL/SQL developers. It sure hasn't been easy. :-)
The PL/SQL Challenge is my latest attempt to do just that, as well as
provide a way for developers to show how much they know and to win
prizes
(including cash!) for that knowledge. In fact, it was partly inspired by
the PL/SQL quiz I did in Sydney!
The Challenge is free and simple: you play the quiz each weekday.
We keep score. You get ranked. Every three months, the top-ranking
players compete in a quarterly championship to award first, second and
third prizes. Cash prizes, among others. But that's not
all. Every month, we will raffle off other prizes to anyone who played
the quiz that month. And the more you play, the greater your chance of
winning.
Wouldn't it be great if tens of thousands of developers played each day,
vying to demonstrate their deep knowledge of PL/SQL? It would be another
great way, in addition to Oracle Magazine's PL/SQL Developer of the Year
award and PL/SQL certification, for Oracle technologists to receive
broad, public recognition for their expertise in the PL/SQL
language.
The PL/SQL Challenge will launch on 1 April 2010. Today, 15
March,
we have opened the Challenge for beta testing at
http://beta.plsqlchallenge.com. There will be a special raffle
and
prizes just for people who participate in the beta, help us iron out any
wrinkles on the website.
I hope that the Challenge will attract lots of attention from the Oracle
developer community and over time turn into a way for individuals to
showcase their talent. And I hope that you might pass on the word about
the Challenge to your own network of Oracle technologists.
If you are a member or officer in a user group, please note that when
registering, players can indicate they are members of that group. In the
future, we hope to publish rankings by group, so this is also an
opportunity to demonstrate the sophistication of your
organization!
Finally, and perhaps most important, I encourage you to play the
Challenge and achieve a splendidly high ranking!
Cheers,
Alex
