Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts (map)
Welcome to the very first SOM -- Sydney Oracle Meetup!
The idea is to learn some exciting bits of Oracle technology and also have some fun. This is also time when we discuss the future meetups and how they should be organized.
We will start at 6PM but please come between 5:30PM and 6:00PM - we will have some Pizza served and soft drinks (not sure about other drinks yet
).
The evening will be organized around presentation by Alex Gorbachev. It's split in two parts. We will also have white board available so we can discuss ad-hoc topics and arrange mini-sessions on the fly (I have some ideas).
The presentation is useful to Oracle DBA's, Architects and other technical people interested in how Oracle RAC Clusterware works, why it's there and what are the potential problems with it. Whether you are an experienced RAC DBA or just thinking about Oracle RAC and want to know how it works -- there will be lots of useful info for you. We should have some demos as well so it will be fun.
Here is the agenda but we will be flexible and can change it on the fly. It's the first time anyway.
Under the Hood of Oracle Clusterware Part 1
This presentation provides practical understanding of Oracle Clusterware (CRS) and knowledge required for independent troubleshooting of Clusterware issues: why nodes are evicted, why resources don't start or why they fail for no apparent reason.
After this presentation, a DBA will know where to look for the answers instead of blindly running the cluvfy utility.
See you all there!
Thanks everyone who attended. You and only you made it a success. See you all again soon!
