This event is dedicated to one of the Oracle's strategic open source projects!
Oracle has invested quite a lot into Oracle Enterprise Linux which has meant significant steps forward for Linux and the Open Source community.
As result of all the hard work there are a lot of improvements in this space. One of the TOP announcements made at Oracle Open World 2010 conference is the introduction of the new "Enterprise Kernel" optimized to run databases.
I am happy to announce that one of the top Linux and open source evangelists in Australia will be the Presenter for this event. Please welcome Avi Miller! He has contributed to Open Source community for many years working as director of "Open Source Industry Australia", Vice-President of "Linux Users of Victoria" and other Open Source related positions. Currently he is working as a "Linux and Virtualization Architect" and "Principal Sales Consultant" at Oracle.
He kindly agreed to come over from Melbourne and present all the latest news in Oracle Linux/Infrastructure area to our group.
He will talk about:
-- Oracle Open Source roadmap
-- New Oracle kernel for Linux
-- Other Linux and Infrastructure improvements
-- Linux up to 75% Performance improvements running databases in new kernel
-- ...
We are extending this invitation to all Sydney based Open Source supporters and systems administrators. Please feel free to pass this message to System Administrators in your organization and/or any IT professionals who are interested in this discussion.
Please note: If you are inviting attendees who are not registered, please have them sign up. This is important so that we have a proper headcount for the size of the venue, finger food and refreshments.
