Disaster Recovery Nuts & Bolts, Case study

Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts (map)

Selected By: Yury Velikanov

This is a case study of a DR standby database using the SAN-to-SAN "dark fibre" connectivity and SAN-specific commands, as opposed to more common Dataguard and IP-based conduit for redo log duplication. Overall setup will be explained, with required commands and scripting as well as the performance obtained. Advantages/disadvantages will be presented. Context is AIX and EMC-Clarion with EE Oracle but the general principle of operation is common to all OS's and SAN, as well as to SE Oracle.

Can I dare to ask for some feedback on this meetup? It's hard to aim for better if no one says anything...
