Hello Friends,

I am delighted and proud to announce that this Thursday March the 18th marks the one year anniversary of the Sydney Oracle Meetup. What started as a small group of eager and talented professionals, with a willingness to share experiences and knowhow with fellow DBAs and developers has grown into a major driving force for the Oracle space in Australia, almost 200 strong. Over the past 21 events we have hosted notable industry and Oracle speakers, including some from within our own group. Thanks to your participation and support, our events have all been successes and many a member has walked away enriched by the experience. Your contributions and willingness to share your expertise is what keeps this group growing; so keep it up.

Yury and Martin are working hard to expand our membership by continuously scouting for new topics, members, speakers and strengthening the partnerships we have with Oracle and various related vendors. You can help by spreading the word to your peers and industry friends about our little group and if you have any topic ideas, be sure to submit them to Martin, me or on the Meetup site

We have 5 new Meetup dates set already starting with DBA war stories. You can expect more content and more structure in the upcoming events as we will try to bring even more value to these meetings.

Now to the fun stuff… I invite all of you to a Pub night in the CBD on Friday March 19th to join us in celebrating this milestone. The plan is to hold court and be pleasantly intoxicated by each other’s charming personalities at the Argyle (I’ll be there in spirit); conveniently located at 18 Argyle Street, in The Rocks. We’ll start at 5:30 as usual and will continue unabated at each person’s discretion. As a sponsor and strong supporter of SOM, Pythian will give away some “schwag”. Please RSVP for this event by wishing us a “Happy Birthday” and letting us know if you are coming or not.
