Sydney Oracle Meetup #13 - MySQL plug-on for Oracle Grid Control

This location is shown only to members

This meetup is an experiment - we are organizing a joint event between Sydney MySQL User Group and Sydney Oracle Meetup. Actually, when Oracle Sun deal becomes official, that might be a long term strategy anyway. :)

Come at 5:30pm and we start at about 6pm with the presentation.

We will learn couple things this evening:

1. How to monitor MySQL using Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Grid Control and free MySQL plug-in provided by Pythian. We will see what is available and what's not. We'll also take a look into licensing and see whether you can use Oracle Grid Control to monitor MySQL without paying any Oracle licensing.

2. How to create new plug-ins for OEM on the example of MySQL plug-in. We will learn about the workflow of plug-in development, basics of OEM plug-in development and where to find more info. Technologies involved in plug-in creation is XML and, in case of this implementation, Perl.

Looking forward to see everyone there!
