For those of you who don't know the protocol - the gathering starts at 5:30PM with pizza and drinks and we get to the technical content around 6:00PM.
The topic of the meetup can be characterized the best by a modern buzz word - cloud computing. So what it's all about? It's about achieving hi utilization of your hardware and software resources to provide the requires services - in application to databases it's meeting availability, performance and scaleability requirements.
There won't be a formal presentation most likely - this will be a whiteboard session (just like we had with backup meetup some time ago) - no marketing. :)
Here are the topics we will discuss:
- Server virtualization and how it works with different vendors (Oracle VM, VMware and proprietary platforms like AIX, Solaris and etc)
- Database virtualization or consolidation
- Storage and network virtualization
- Oracle licensing for cloud computing
I hope that we will have enough attendees that are able to share the practical experience in this area.
I would like to hear presentations/discussions about how different BI tools (ETL, reporting, etc) use Oracle features and might be how 11g helped to eliminate some problems and/or complexity in comparison with previous versions
