For those of you who don't know the protocol - the gathering starts at 5:30PM with pizza and drinks and we get to the technical content around 6:00PM.
The topic for this meetup is quite exciting - Oracle Exadata and everything about it. David Centellas, Senior Database Consultant from Oracle will do technical presentation on Exadata and, after the break, we will have a open forum discussion where two Oracle’s Enterprise Architects, Tim Rubin and Chris Jones, will answer our questions and share thir real-world experience.
Schedule:
David Centellas has been in the IT industry for nine years working in multiple facets of technology, all of which gravitate towards maximum availability architecture and best practise implementations. David is a senior database sales consultant for Oracle and has technical responsibility for the Oracle database and database options within Australia. With Exadata becoming a new direction for Oracle, David is taking the appliance into his technical responsibilities working on some of the largest opportunities currently present within Australia. Prior experience includes two years at a major hardware vendor and six years at major software vendor.
Abstract:
Oracle Exadata uses a massively parallel architecture to dramatically increase data bandwidth between the database server and storage. In addition, smart storage software offloads data-intensive query processing from Oracle Database 11g Servers to the Exadata Storage Servers which results in faster, parallel data processing and less data movement through higher bandwidth connections.
This presentation will provide an in-depth look at the Exadata solution and share some recent performance results against a range of competitive and traditional data warehouse solutions.
